Environmental Protection and Spill Prevention
Environmental stewardship is a core value at Terminal Storage GMBH. We are committed to protecting the air, soil, and water resources surrounding our storage facilities. This is achieved through a combination of engineering controls, procedural safeguards, and real-time monitoring systems.
All storage tanks are equipped with secondary containment systems (bund walls or dikes) capable of holding at least 110% of the largest tank’s capacity. Double-walled pipelines, leak detection sensors, and automatic shut-off valves are installed to minimize the risk of product release. Routine integrity testing (such as hydrostatic and ultrasonic tests) is conducted to ensure structural soundness of storage tanks and pipelines.
In case of spills, our emergency spill response plan is immediately activated. We maintain on-site spill kits, absorbents, and trained hazmat teams to ensure rapid response and cleanup. We work closely with environmental agencies and conduct periodic environmental impact assessments (EIAs) to track our performance.
Regulatory Compliance and Continuous HSE Improvement
Terminal Storage GMBH maintains full compliance with all local, national, and international HSE regulations applicable to oil storage operations. This includes adherence to the Seveso III Directive (in Europe), OSHA standards, and environmental laws governing hazardous material handling, emissions, and water discharge.
We implement a robust audit and inspection program, involving both internal HSE teams and third-party inspectors. These audits assess compliance across multiple parameters—equipment condition, documentation, worker competency, and emergency preparedness. Non-conformities are addressed through corrective action plans with defined timelines and responsibilities.
To foster a culture of continuous improvement, we conduct regular HSE performance reviews, set measurable targets (e.g., LTIFR, TRIR), and engage in knowledge-sharing forums with industry peers. Lessons learned from incidents are shared company-wide through toolbox talks, newsletters, and retraining sessions.
